Data Acquisition System Accessories

Dataforth recommends a keep-it-simple approach when building a new test and measurement or data acquisition system. Approach your requirements from the sensor side and then move on up to the computer or controller end. Each 'link' in this signal chain is vitally important to getting the best data out of your system! Too many times we discount the connections along this path! The obviously simple ribbon cables or screw terminal connections can quickly become a nightmare of wire bundles, tangles and potentially create crosstalk or ground noise problems! Selecting the best accessories will simplify connections and provide you or your customer with the longest trouble free system life.

If you've identified the I/O needed for your project and tentatively selected the signal conditioners, Dataforth recommends that you spend some extra time investigating mounting options. Plug-in-the-panel and DIN mount packages are the most popular choices. Because DIN rails are so popular, many panel mount 'back panels' (those with four or more legs) are now available with DIN rail mounting options as well. So, whether panel or DIN I/O modules, your choice often comes down to selecting wiring connections rather than mounting. ...Your best vendors will have many, many options available. Sometimes, too many options! Single, dual, four, eight, sixteen channel DIN I/O module assemblies should be available. Products that mount on a panel or snap onto a DIN rail and assemblies that provide cold-junction compensation, attenuate and protect your system from high voltages, as well as 19" racks and power supplies should be readily available.

Wire connections are usually...
